Career Accelerator Program

The Career Accelerator Program is designed to help international students develop practical employability skills and prepare for the transition from university to professional work.

Program Overview

The program combines interactive in‑person bootcamps, online webinars and a final hackathon where students apply their learning to a real business challenge.

Students who actively engage in the program will also be considered for a 12‑week professional internship opportunity that can contribute towards university unit credit.

Eligibility

To participate in the program students must:

  • Be an international student currently studying in Western Australia.
  • Be enrolled at a participating university (Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, Notre Dame University, The University of Western Australia). 
  • Hold a valid student visa.

Program Structure and Key Dates

The program is delivered over several months and includes a combination of skill-building sessions and applied learning experiences. These sessions are designed to help students understand the Australian workplace, develop professional confidence and prepare for graduate recruitment processes.

Students must participate in at least 2 Bootcamps, 1 Webinar, and the Hackathon to be considered for the 12-week internship.

Benefits of participating in the program

By participating in the Career Development Program, students will gain practical skills, industry insights and valuable professional experience to support their transition from university to the workplace.

Through the program, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Be considered for a 12-week professional internship placement, providing valuable Australian workplace experience
  • Connect with industry professionals and expand their professional network
  • Receive guidance and insights to support their career development and job search strategies 
  • Gain a better understanding of Australian workplace culture and professional expectations

Internship Opportunity

Students who actively participate throughout the StudyPerth x APAIE Career Development Program will have the opportunity to be considered for a 12-week professional internship aligned with their field of study. Depending on each institution's requirements, this internship may also contribute towards university unit credit.

A limited number of 10 internship placements will be available. 

Following the Hackathon session, students who have actively engaged with the program will be invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to be considered for the internship. 

As part of the EOI process, students will be asked to briefly explain:

  • Why they are interested in the internship opportunity
  • How the experience will support their career development
  • A short reflection on their experience during the Hackathon

Applications will be reviewed by the Program Committee, and shortlisted students will be contacted by StudyPerth. 

Priority may be given to students who demonstrate strong engagement throughout the program, including the bootcamps, webinars, and Hackathon.

How internship candidates are selected

Students interested in the internship must demonstrate strong engagement throughout the program.

Selection will consider:

  • Throughout the program, must attend at least 2 Bootcamps, 1 Webinar, and the Hackathon, but further attendance will be highly regarded
  • Submit the EOI with a short reflection on the hackathon session
  • Demonstrated commitment and professionalism

Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel.
